I left early yesterday to spend some time with family friends visiting from Ohio.
Because I did this I had dozens of emails when I came into work this morning.
I also had dozens of emails in my Gmail inbox as well.
As I got to work processing them both and realized how nice it is to be able to type “f” to forward something instead of having to hit “alt” and then “f”. Similarly, with a nice GreaseMonkey user script, I can label my messages and archive them all without having to use the keyboard. Do this in Groupwise requires a drag and drop which sometimes leads to mis-filing the message.
Starring and reporting spam is requires a few keystrokes at most and the filters seem to just work whereas Groupwise filters don’t seem to work reliably on our system.
It’s either a great day for web apps that they’re getting as nice as desktop apps or a sad comment on the usability of Groupwise to say that GMail wins the usability award hands down.
